International Visitor Program

Thousands of visitors from all over the world have come to Greater Cincinnati to exchange ideas and meet with professional counterparts thanks to the International Visitor Program. An initiative of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the program brings approximately 5,000 foreign nationals to the United States every year to experience the United States firsthand.

These current and emerging leaders from overseas, travel to Greater Cincinnati and to communities throughout the United States for face-to-face meetings with their professional colleagues. The exchange enables the international leaders to obtain firsthand knowledge about the United States, its people, policies, and culture. Lasting business, cultural, and educational contacts with prominent professionals overseas often develop.

Participants on the International Visitor Program generally spend several weeks traveling to multiple communities across the country where professional resources most match the visitor's professional goals and objectives. The network of community based organizations that program visitors and provide hospitality is facilitated at the national level by the National Council for International Visitors

The flow of guests on the International Visitors Program has broadened Greater Cincinnati's understanding of the world and has created valuable opportunities for information-sharing among academics, specialists, and leaders in government and business.
