Greater Cincinnati places strong emphasis on community service and is in the top five regions nationally in per-capita giving to the United Way. There are over 600 clubs, organizations, and civic groups in Greater Cincinnati. Greater Cincinnatians volunteer hundreds of thousands of hours for any manner of non-profit organizations and causes.

The IVC has hosted numerous programs on Non Governmental Organization development including short term programs on NGO development as well as long term (three week) programs that have included in-depth training seminars on strategic planning for NGOs along with site visits.
