The IVC depends extensively on volunteers who support our mission by providing
hospitality to visitors, assisting in the delivery of programming, and
by helping the organization achieve its goals.
Volunteers with the IVC are rewarded by the opportunity to meet and engage
with visitors from all over the world. Spending time with international
visitors, whether as a dinner hospitality host, a homestay placement,
or as a friend to an international student can open to you and your family
doorways to new cultural experiences right here in Greater Cincinnati.
We could not succeed in our programming without the help of volunteers.
The rewards of volunteering for the IVC are intangible, but like most
experiences of great value, they are long lasting. For more information
or to sign up to volunteer, please contact
us. Here are just a few of the ways you can participate in this exciting
venture.
Dinner Hospitality
Host international visitors in your home for dinner. The visitor has the
opportunity to see a " home in the USA," while you and your family have
the opportunity to be exposed to many different cultures. Please contact
us.
Overnight Homestay
Do you have a spare bedroom? Provide a homestay placement for an international
visitor for one night or for as long as several weeks. Visitors will see
the US and our community through your eyes and experiences. They will
gain a view of us as people, not just policies and programs. Meanwhile,
you and your family will see the world (and our community!) through their
eyes and experiences. Please contact
us.
Transportation
Be a part of a core of drivers transporting visitors to and from the airport,
and to appointments and meetings on an "as needed" basis. Please contact
us.
Sightseeing
Guide visitors to the sights in and around Greater Cincinnati.
Please contact us.
Be a Friend to an International Student
Share family meals, special celebrations, and excursions during the school
year to provide a sense of belonging to students enrolled at the University
of Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky University. For more information about
the International Friendship Program, click
here. Please contact us.
Office Volunteer
Assist IVC's small staff. Duties include phone work, bulk
mailings, filing and data entry. Please contact
us.
Development
Assist in all phases of development from grant preparation and corporate
fundraising to event planning. Please contact
us.
